We Are Now Rated the #1 Company Who Does What We Do

press release written by Richard Jordan, PR Coordinator for NC Medical Travel
10/5/2014

Clemmons, NC -- The claim that our company (NC Medical Travel) is number one is a bit of a joke. It's because we are the ONLY company who does what we do. Sure, other companies offer medical tourism, but NC Medical Travel is proud to be a step above, in a category all of our own.

The first and perhaps biggest difference is how we function as the USA office for one, specific hospital in Costa Rica. Clinica Unibe Hospital has been our trustworthy partner when sending patients from North Carolina and other places all across the USA. We develop these business relationships, and perform checks on the various degrees and credentials that doctors and hospitals hold. Our USA patients can have confidence that our company is holding our business partners to the highest standards.

Another major distinction (very much related to the first) is that we do not arrange travel to other countries. We have specialized, and our staff uses our repeat personal experiences to better provide consultations with our travelers. Our staff are certified ICT travel specialists, but just as importantly have taken the time to develop a wide-ranging knowledge of our own.

To go along with our staff's personal experiences, we also have staff visit many of the doctors and dentists that we recommend. We seek out quality partners for our travelers, but also know their quality personally. That instills confidence from knowing we not only advocate Costa Rican medicine, but also use it ourselves. We have BEEN to these doctors, HAD MEDICAL CARE with this hospital. Other companies cannot claim the same.

Another difference comes from our USA business office in Clemmons, NC. The office is for booking and appointments, not medical or any other healthcare. That office builds confidence with our USA travelers. Their payments can be made and processed in the USA. We are a member of the Greensboro (NC) Chamber of Commerce and a legal business entity, proud to be a part of the community. With our office staff of Americans born in the USA speaking English, travelers feel more at home.

As a further distinction, we pride ourselves on personal service, up to actually flying on the airplane *with* our travellers! While personal travel accompaniment is a VIP optional upgrade, our personal touch is visible in all our business. At our office, new travellers can receive much-desired travel advice and even suggestions about airport transit. Our office keeps a phone that calls Costa Rica easily and effectively, which family may use. Our staff keeps in touch with the daily well-being of our travellers with courtesy calls.

So, in short, we would like to think we are Number One among medical tourism companies, but until our industry is rated, we know what we are doing makes a positive difference in people's lives. Not every business can say that. We are proud of what we are doing.

Press Release: Doctor and Dentist from Costa Rica at Dixie Classic Fair in Winston-Salem, NC

Press release:

Written by Richard Jordan, PR Coordinator with NC Medical Travel
9/30/2014

Clemmons, NC -- Imagine a CAT scan for $500. Or a colonoscopy for $340. Perhaps dental implants for $850 each. Prices like these are unheard of for most people. There is a very good reason -- prices like these are not typicallly found in the USA.

For decades, people have been travelling to foreign countries to find better healthcare prices. For some, it is simply a dislike for spending so much. For others, it is a matter of life or death.

Doctors Esteban Urzola (Dental Implantologist) and Victor Urzola (Cosmetic Surgeon), two brothers who are on staff at Clinica Unibe Hospital in Costa Rica, have made plans to attend the Dixie Classic Fair Oct 9-12. They are not practicing medicine while in the USA, but are instead talking to average North Carolinians about their healthcare options. For some people, their treatments at Clinica Unibe Hospital have already saved them literally thousands of dollars.

The doctors will meet and greet USA residents at the booth for NC Medical Travel, a USA company in Clemmons, NC. They provide a solid base for seekers of medical tourism, and prospective travellers feel confidence that their payments go to a legitimate USA business. The office for NC Medical Travel is located in the Broyhill Suites, office #128. Their booth will be open during the entire Dixie Classic Fair, and staff are happy to help interested parties make arrangements.

Anyone wishing to meet and speak with Drs. Urzola may call 336-300-4000 to set up an time to talk. Or simply drop by. They look forward to meeting with people, and building confidence in Costa Rican healthcare at Unibe Hospital.

In Sept, DentaRica sending 5 patients from USA to Costa Rica

Press release by Richard Jordan, PR Coordinator for DentaRica, LLC

Clemmons, NC -- Patients from the midwest and North Carolina are meeting DentaRica staff (known locally as NC Medical Travel to Costa Rica). Once together, they will board the same flight to travel on the last leg on the journey to Costa Rica's paradise of healthcare affordability. This is an image of the ideal DentaRica experience. Personal guidance and travel assistance literally all the way. This level of personal service is the VIP treatment (a $1,000 value), and offered to this group free of charge as a promotion.

Once in Costa Rica itself, the personal service doesn't stop there. Staff in North Carolina will remotely coordinate appointments and bookings and travel arrangements. One of the more complicated things will be making sure all our staff and shuttles know who to pick up when, because many of our medical and dental appointments involve consultations and thus new appointments will be frequent. Add to this that medical appointments are notorious for delays and running longer than expected. Add to that that we will have various tours leaving on different days at different times. Volcanoes, crocodile overlooks, coffee plantations, 200-foot waterfalls, white beaches, rainforests. Logistics is our biggest job, and that's what we're here for.

About DentaRica:
DentaRica (locally known as NC Medical Travel) is a USA-based company with an open-to-the-public office in Clemmons, NC. Washington Post article: "A $10,000 Blood Test? Yes, Really!"

http://www.washingtonpost.com/news/to-your-health/wp/2014/08/15/a-10000-blood-test-yes-really/

This article disturbed us so much, and I'm sure it will you, too. But it is good information, and turning a blind eye to the broken healthcare in the United States helps no one, least of all yourself.

We are proud that our company, NC Medical Travel to Costa Rica, can provide a way out for our fellow Americans stuck in between a rock and a hard place..all while getting top notch medical care and a great vacation, to boot!

We are not a charity, although like a good charity we help average people have a better quality of life. But only if they are willing to try something a little bit out-of-the-ordinary.

NC Medical Travel to Costa Rica to be exhibitor at both Dixie Classic Fair and NC Mountain State Fair

Press release written by Richard Jordan, PR Coordinator for NC Medical Travel
06-30-2014

Clemmons, NC -- NC Medical Travel to Costa Rica (known internationally as DentaRica) is making final arrangements to be exhibitors at two major regional fairs, the Dixie Classic Fair in October and the NC Mountain State Fair in September. They will be unveiling their newest promotional video, made in conjunction with the partner hospital, Clinica Unibe.

This video has been a true international effort, with part filmed in North Carolina and part made in Costa Rica. It is designed to help businesses understand exactly how NC Medical Travel can benefit their bottom line, as well as their value to both existing and prospective employees. In it, specific questions are answered, such as "Why will my employees chose to travel?"

These fairs are both well-attended, and NC Medical Travel anticipates meeting many types of people, although most will be individuals and small business owners. The new video, even if not directly addressing these attendees, will be of extreme interest. The video features a patient testimonial of a NC resident while in Costa Rica for treatment from partners of NC Medical Travel. The video clearly shows the hospital itself, the doctors, and even the airport! Perhaps most importantly they will see for themselves the high standards in healthcare practiced by the Costa Rican facilities.

To better illustrate the cost savings being discussed, it is often useful to compare the cost and savings of various costly procedures as hip replacements and knee surgery. It is realistic for U.S. health costs to be $50,000 for many such procedures. The Costa Rican cost may be as low only $16,000 for the same procedure with the same FDA guidelines. $24,000 is an enormous savings, weather to a business or to an individual.

World Health Organization's ratings for nation's overall healthcare

Although wikipedia is not entirely accurate, this information is widely in agreement with other sites, including the WHO's own.

http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/World_Health_Organization_ranking_of_health_systems_in_2000

What is really amazing is how the US is not rated especially high, although not especially low either.

This is not new information or anything secret. It is simply not widely thought about.

Costa Rica is ranked HIGHER than the U.S. See for yourself. Why would someone who has decided on medical tourism choose to travel to a country with a lower rating? As far as money matters are the reason, Costa Rica is as affordable as many other destinations.

Recently, I wrote a blog post about escaping USA hospitals because of medical errors and sloppy healthcare. The WHO rankings demonstrate the same problems, and also the urgency to find a better alternative.

Podcast: Real patient testimonial interview on HealthcareElsewhere

The podcast HealthcareElsewhere (http://healthcareelsewhere.com) is a new thing in cyberspace, but it is helping to address an old problem: finding better medical care for yourself and those you love. This show looks at all sorts of alternatives and think-outside-the-box solutions, in many different countries, but in the last few days they have released TWO MORE shows relating to Costa Rica, and more specifically featuring our select partner Unibe Hospital (Clinica Unibe).

The podcast is cleverly hosted by John Cote, whose truth-seeking talents try and get at the full stories.

First, on May 17th, the podcast host interviewed Dr. Luis Wachong, CEO of Unibe Hospital, with a focus on the quality at his facility, assured with their international accreditations:
http://healthcareelsewhere.com/2014/05/17/029-the-benefits-of-u-s-accredited-healthcare-in-costa-rica-with-luis-wachong/

Then, on May 20, just a few days later, the show interviews one of his patients! This gentleman traveled with DentaRica's assistance and saw the clear benefit to our Wellness Package.

Our Owner, Kathy Jordan, interviewed on podcast HealthcareElsewhere!

Listen to this great show!
http://healthcareelsewhere.com/2014/05/09/costa-ricas-compassionate-care-with-kathy-jordan-of-north-carolina-medical-travel/

This podcast is about medical tourism as a topic of interest (from any country) and is not affiliated with any medical or tourism providers, and really seems to have a strong ethic for unbiased journalism (unless a desire for humane, safe, and fair healthcare counts as a bias).

The host, John Cote, and his wife are both veterans of the U.S. military and their patriotism for the United States as a country and a people does not extend to a blind trust in U.S. healthcare as a single option for anyone, and although many times a very good option, U.S. healthcare is not the only alternative. This is what the show is about: alternatives to local, U.S. healthcare.

We were thrilled to be a part of the podcast, and hope to be again soon.

Their website is: www.healthcareelsewhere.com and says:
"Welcome to Healthcare Elsewhere, Your Daily Medical Tourism Show!
Every day, host John Cote shares the success stories of people just like you, who have traveled elsewhere to take care of their healthcare needs. Join us as we interview Doctors and healthcare experts from around the world and reveal cutting edge medical breakthroughs."

DentaRica staff to personally guide three medical travelers in May

Clemmons, NC -- DentaRica staff member Natisha Fernandez will be personally guiding three medical travelers in May. She will also be getting some cosmetic surgery herself as part of DentaRica's continued commitment to personal experience and quality assurance. DentaRica (locally known as NC Medical Travel) is proud to only send their travelers to doctors, dentists, hospitals, or clinics that they have inspected in person and through their credentials.

All three travelling patients, along with Natisha herself, are going to Unibe Hospital for their treatment. DentaRica has a very productive relationship with Clinica Unibe, and serves as their USA Patient Appointment Desk.

Two of the patients have taken advantage of DentaRica's May Special on preventative medicine at Unibe Hospital. For $1899. they will receive (varying by need and gender) over ten lab tests, four imagings and scans, three specialist consultations, a gastroscopy, an echocardiogram, and more.

The third patient is going to Unibe Hospital for dental work. As an elderly patient, DentaRica staff felt the patient's dental needs would be best served at a fully equipped hospital as opposed to a dental clinic. This represents another service performed my DentaRica -- using experienced knowledge to make the best match between doctor and patient.

Ms. Fernandez has an Associate's Degree in Spanish language. She also has recently earned her certificate as a Destination Specialist from the Costa Rican Board of Tourism (ICT). She has already been to the country of Costa Rica on earlier trips, and her firsthand experience with downtown San Jose makes her especially suited as a guide. She had dental surgery on a previous trip, and was convinced she wanted further appointments. She has experienced their Costa Rican culture and even sampled their nightlife and restaurants. For patients who may want tourism options without travel inside a foreign country, she has been to museums (such as the Teatro Nacional and Teatro Helico Salazar) and shopping destinations (such as the Mercado Central and an organic market). She speaks fluent Spanish, and often serves as the main translator in DentaRica's appointment-making.

Press Release: DentaRica's Medical Tourism to Costa Rica offers escape from risky USA hospitals

Press release written by Richard Jordan, PR Coordinator at DentaRica, LLC

Clemmons, NC -- For decades, news sources have been repeatedly criticizing healthcare providers in the USA for their ridiculous medical errors and other forms of negligence that lead to deaths. Some sources have been quoted as saying preventable deaths are in the hundreds of thousands per year. And, sadly, that is merely known deaths, and does not include permanent painful life-altering conditions that are almost as bad. Hospitals have even been incriminated in allowing certain doctors to continue to work while there is convincing evidence that doctor is intentionally killing patients.

Many of these deaths are of more or less healthy individuals, and are caused -- nauseatingly -- by things as simple as overlooking basic handwashing.

It is without question that this issue needs to be addressed. There may be several solutions. Medical tourism is one such alternative. DentaRica offers medical tourism with the confidence engendered by being a USA-based company, having a policy of personal experiece, and having appropriate credentials.

Healthcare in Costa Rica is done quite differently than in the USA, and tends to be much more safe. That surprises many people who have the notion that Costa Rica is a so-called Third World country. For one,
the normal healthcare in Costa Rican hospitals includes an excellent nurse-to-patient ratio. It requires no convincing that more nurses per patient, more attention per patient, is a very good thing. Recently, DentaRica (locally known as NC Medical Travel) had an interview with Dr. Luis Wachong of Unibe Hospital (Clinica Unibe) in Costa Rica. When asked about this ratio, Dr. Wachong replied: "For surgical patient two nurse for one patient. In terms of hospitalization 1/1, in terms of observation 0.6 nurse for patient "

Unibe Hospital of Costa Rica Attending Conference in Florida

Press release written by Richard Jordan, PR Coordinator at DentaRica, LLC

Unibe Hospital in Costa Rica, as part of its ongoing effort to reach the international medical tourism market, is proud to be attending the 2014 Medical Travel and International Business Summit to be held in Miami Beach, Florida in May. It will be the first such event held outside of Costa Rica. The Summit, hosted by PROMED, is the fifth of these annual events, and is to be held at the Deauville Beach Resort.

Unibe Hospital, in sunny Costa Rica, can serve USA patients with the quality they are used to. Moreover, a US patient can a lot of money without sacrificing value. Costa Rica, in general, is rated even higher than the US in terms of healthcare.

May 6th through May 8th, the Costa Rican promoters of medical travel are hosting this convention to gather the most respected institutions of Costa Rican medical tourism and provide network opportunities for both Costa Rican and international parties. Education, business meetings, and investment opportunities all play a role, as well.

Although Americans travelling to Costa Rica for healthcare alternatives has been going on for many decades, there has recently been a more unified effort to promote medical tourism. And Unibe Hospital, along with USA-based partner DentaRica, LLC (also known as NC Medical Travel) are part of that renewed effort.

Unibe Hospital is proud to be sending its own Medical Director as a guest speaker.  Dr. Maria Amalia Matamoros will be speaking on Wednesday, May 7th.

Additionally, Dr. Ronald Iverson, President of the highly respected and American Association for Accreditation of Ambulatory Surgery Facilities International (AAAASFI), will be speaking on ethical considerations in medical tourism. His organization is part of largest not-for-profit accrediting organization in the United States.

ICT, the Costa Rican tourism board, will also be attending. The owner of DentaRica Travel, LLC, is certified by ICT as a destination specialist. DentaRica is a US travel business that can assist US patients in visiting PROMED-cetified hospitals and clinics, such as Unibe.

Unibe Hospital was one of the founders of PROMED, and remains proud of its contribution to making Costa Rica one the best destinations in the world for medical tourism. This conference is part of PROMED's ongoing promotional efforts. The USA locale this year is designed to better reach business interests in the North American markets. PROMED certifies healthcare providers for high quality standards but also works towards satisfaction for all foreign travelers.

Press release: Unibe Hospital Gives Better Health Through Preventative Medicine

Press release written by Richard Jordan, PR Coordinator at DentaRica, LLC

Clemmons, NC -- Clinica Unibe, one of the best hospitals in Costa Rica, just a four-hour flight south of Florida, can make the quality of life better for thousands of USA residents, and has been doing so for the last decade. Although they are certainly qualified to perform full treatments and surgeries just like any USA hospital (and have the credentials to back it up), it seems worthwhile to explain just how preventative care with Unibe Hospital can make YOUR life better, or the lives of those you love.

Many Americans have experienced painful medical situations that could have been fairly easily (and cheaply!) treated if properly attended to earlier. Many people will see concerning health warning signs, but delay attending to those concerns until the situation becomes an emergency. Even if a healthcare "nuisance" turns out to be just that -- a nuisance -- in many other cases early detection of a problem is literally a matter of life and death. This hardly needs explaining.

What does need explaining is how Unibe Hospital (in Costa Rica), working hand-in-hand with DentaRica Travel (in North Carolina, USA), can help.

Preventative care, such as MRIs and colonoscopies and other routine diagnostic testing, are often costly in the USA. For people facing that situation, a few days' travel to Costa Rica including a visit to Unibe Hospital can make an enormous difference. Such a visit can make possible what did not seem possible. A $2000 diagnostic might be as little as $400, while the flight itself (charged by the airlines) can be as little as $200. This is not a joke.

With shockingly low prices like that, many people are naturally concerned about the quality of care at Unibe Hospital. On the contrary, the quality of care is very high and very modern. The standards are very high. They use cutting-edge technology. The experience and education of doctors and staff is excellent and comparable to a hospital in the USA. The prices are low because of the national healthcare program in Costa Rica. Please read an interview conducted with Dr. Luis Wachong of Clinica Unibe:  http://www.clinicaunibe.net/Blank-2.html

DentaRica Travel joins Greensboro (NC) Chamber of Commerce

DentaRica, LLC, is very pleased to announce that we have joined the Greensboro Chamber of Commerce in Greensboro, NC, a metropolitan area near Clemmons, NC, where their office is. We have joined as "NC Medical Travel to Costa Rica" to better explain who we are and what we do. Our website is listed as ncmedicaltravel.com although both websites function well and are just designed to meet different needs.

This memberships adds credibility to the rather new DentaRica business, and the resources provided as part of membership are going to add many new opportunities for our business to grow. Along with their new office space, this is a measure designed to make our customers feel more comfortable.

Additionally, this is part of an effort we are making to reach out to small businesses to let them know of our out-of-the-box solutions. With the new ObamaCare landscape, we know our services won't work for everybody. However, especially for certain medical needs not provided by insurance, our services meet a substantial need. Cosmetic surgery, or procedures that insurance companies decide are optional, are almost always going to leave employers and their employees in a lurch. Dental care is very often a source of unfilled needs (no pun intended). And we are here to help.

Please visit the Chamber website at greensboro.com

The Chamber has frequent meetings, and DentaRica staff plans to make the most of them.

One of the difficulties of any new business, or even an old one that is expanding, it convincing new customers that they are trustworthy and legitimate. DentaRica encourages smart shoppers. And unlike many businesses who try to 'trick' even a smart shopper with gimmicks and false advertising, their goal is to be the obvious best choice in value, quality, and service.

Announcing our New Office in Clemmons, NC !

I haven't been posting much lately, but I have been busy with many projects and making valuable business contacts...and setting up our new office!

And I have photos! We'd love for you to drop by and see us. If you do, our experienced and well-traveled staff will be thrilled to explain how all this works.

Since my last posts, we have had many successful travellers save money...sometimes an unbelievable amount! We calculated that one particular gentleman saved over $13,000 on his costly procedures. Yes, he spent money too, but he didn't have to break the bank.

We have made agreements with the website MediBid.com,, operated out of the USA, and we invite you to use their resource. Basically, it applies the convenience of eBay to medical care, except in reverse. You say what you need, and doctors make offers. We at DentaRica (that's more convenient to say than MC Medical Travel) assist our partner doctors in making their bids to patients in the USA.

We expect people to have questions, and we even encourage it. The more we can show you, the more you'll have confidence in us. And that's the way we do business: with personal assistance at no extra charge...before, (especially important!) during, and after your trip.

Our new office is located in Clemmons, NC, 10 minutes from Winston-Salem, NC. We are easily located right off a major highway in an elegant restored historic building, among various other office suites. We are in Suite 128, so come on down to sunny Costa Rica!
